Point of Sale - FAQ's

Question: Why is a Cashless system being introduced?

Answer:

  • Gradual move toward a “cash free" club
  • To make it easier for Members to make purchases
  • Enables greater flexibility amongst Golf Course support staff (i.e. allows those not permitted to handle cash) to support the sale of merchandise.

Question:

Will I still be able to purchase goods in the Pro Shop and the Club House using cash?

Answer:

Yes. For the foreseeable future, members will be able to use the new cashless approach as well as cash to make purchases. However due to restrictions on handling cash, not all staff serving in the Pro Shop will be able to serve you if you are using cash and will not be able to credit your cashless balance. Therefore, members are advised to use the cashless approach to take full benefit from the extended opening hours and flexibility that the cashless system provides.

Question:

Will my Membership Card physically hold the details of my cash balance?

Answer:

No. The bar code on your Membership Card holds your identity details only.  The Point of Sale (PoS) card reader will read your identity to enable the sales staff to access your account details.

Question:

When I add cash to my account does it sit in the same account as that into which my competition winnings are posted?

Answer:

No.  The system will hold two accounts for each member. A Customer Credit Account holds all amounts credited to you as a consequence of success in club competitions or values credited to you on account of other activities i.e. the refund of ticket costs for the CEO Cup Award Dinner etc.  Members will also have a Membership Account into which all “cash” amounts will be deposited.

Question:

When I purchase goods in the Pro Shop or Club House which of the two accounts gets debited?

Answer:

Any credit in your Customer Credit Account will be debited first. If your Customer Credit Account is zero then your Membership Account will be debited. This sequence is to ensure that, as far as possible, funds in your Customer Credit Account are utilized first (as these funds must be used by the end of the calendar year) before using funds in your Membership Account (which carry forward from one year to the next).

Question:

Which staff can operate the cashless system?

Answer:

Dedicated Pro Shop staff can add funds to your Membership Account, they can “top up” your account and they can transact for products bought in the Pro Shop i.e. golf merchandise, using both the cashless system and by using traditional cash.

Club House staff can add funds to your Membership Account, they can “top up” your account and they can transact for products bought in the Club House i.e. food and beverage sales, using both the cashless system and by using traditional cash.

Starter Hut Staff will not be able to add funds to your Membership Account nor will they be able to “top up” your account. They will not be able to sell Pro Shop merchandise using cash. However, they will be trained and able to use the Point of Sale technology to sell Pro Shop merchandise using the cashless system.

Question:

How do I activate my card?

Answer:

You do not need to “activate” your card. The bar code on your new 2020 Membership Card is already active. All you need to do is present your membership Card to either the Pro Shop or Club House staff and ask them to add credit to your Membership Account.

Question:

How do I charge my card with money?

Answer:

Hand your Membership Card and your cash to either the Pro Shop or Club House staff and ask them to add credit to your Membership Account. It’s as simple as that.

Question:

When can I charge my card with money?

Answer:

You can charge your card with money or top it up with additional funds at any time that the Pro Shop or Club House staff are working.

Question:

Can I de-activate my card if I decide not to use it in the future?

Answer:

Your Membership Card does not need to be activated and therefore there’s no requirement to deactivate it. If you choose not to avail of the cashless system then there’s no requirement to charge it with credit.  Should you choose at a later date to stop using the cashless system having already added funds to your card you will only be permitted to “encash” your balance i.e. receive a refund of the credit held in your Membership Account at the time you either a) leave Aramco service or b) leave RHGC membership. Both of these “triggering events” will lead to the refunding of any credit held in your Membership Account.

Question:

Is there a maximum or minimum amount I can put onto my card and do I need to keep my Membership Account in credit?

Answer:

There are no maximum or minimum limitations placed on how much credit you can add to your Membership Account.

Question:

Can I redeem money from my card if I plan not to spend it?

Answer:

No. Your Membership Account cannot be used as a “bank” into which you add funds to withdraw at a later date. Your Membership Account is intended to facilitate the easy and cashless purchase of goods and services within RHGC facilities. Your outstanding balance can only be refunded or “encashed” if you leave Aramco service or forego your membership of the Club.

However, it is true for the CEO Cup player refunds. Members will be able to draw out the cash they paid.

Question:

Will I be able to purchase goods using a mixture of Charge Card and Cash payment?

Answer:

Yes. Subject to the status of the staff member serving at the time (Refer to Question x) you’ll be able to supplement cash with your Membership Account balance to complete a purchase.

Question:

Can I use my Membership Card at other golf locations/facilities within Aramco but outside of RHGC or at any other vendor on the Aramco camp?

Answer:

No. The cashless facility enabled via your RHGC Membership Card can only be utilized in the RHGC Pro Shop and Club House.

Question:

When will the Charge Card system “go live”?

Answer:

Members will be able to add credit to their Membership Accounts and then transact using the cashless facility from April 1st

Question:

Do I have to activate my Charge Card when the system goes live?

Answer:

No. The system is not compulsory and the use of cash will still be supported after April 1st. However, the flexibility presented by the cashless approach can only be enjoyed once you’ve added credit to your account.

Question:

How can I check the value of credit remaining in my Membership Account?

Answer:

All staff working in the Pro Shop and Club House will be able to use the Point of Sale (PoS) technology to read the bar code on your Membership Card in order to confirm your funds balance.

Will I receive any regular statements that confirm my transactions and provide an account balance?
