2020 Club Championship

October 16th and 17th, 2020

 

TOURNAMENT REGISTRATION

You can sign-up for this event at the RHGC Events Registration Portal. Sign in and select Upcoming Events from the Event Schedule Tab. On the right hand side, you will see an option to Register Now for any upcoming events that are listed as open.  Scroll down until you see 2020-10-16 CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP.  If Register Now is grayed out, this is the result of your USGA TM profile has not been updated.

CONDITIONS OF PLAY

The competition is open to all Golfers who are active members of Rolling Hills Golf Club with an established USGA/WHS Handicap Index as of October 14th, 2020.

Play will be conducted according to the rules of the USGA, the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews, and the Rolling Hill Golf Course Club Local Rules.

  • Local Rule 7 (Alternative to Stroke and Distance for Lost Ball or Ball Out of Bounds (E-5)) does not apply.
  • Local Temporary Rule 3 (Foam Hole Insert: During casual golf, when a ball bounces out from the hole due to foam (or other material) insert please use your best judgement along with your fellow playing partners to determine if the ball would have holed out more than 50% of the time if there was no insert.) does not apply.

AGE LIMIT

A player must be 17 years or older as of October 14th, 2020.

PLAYER STATUS

The competition is limited to amateurs only, professionals may play if there is space available but are not eligible for prizes or to be declared Club Champion.

DIVISIONS        

Men’s Gross Championship Division        9.8 and below USGA/WHS Handicap Index

  • Top 15 and ties plus anyone within 10 of the leader(s) shall advance to Day 2

Men’s Net Championship Division             9.9 to 24.7 USGA/WHS Handicap Index

  • Top 15 and ties plus anyone within 10 of the leader(s) shall advance to Day 2
  • May opt to play in the Men’s Gross Championship Division. Contact the Tournament Director via RHGCTournaments@gmail.com

Ladies’ Gross Championship Division      16.2 and below USGA/WHS Handicap Index

  • Top 6 and ties plus anyone within 10 of the leader(s) shall advance to Day 2

Ladies’ Net Championship Division           16.3 to 29.9 USGA/WHS Handicap Index

  • Top 6 and ties plus anyone within 10 of the leader(s) shall advance to Day 2
  • May opt to play in the Ladies’ Gross Championship Division. Contact the Tournament Director via RHGCTournaments@gmail.com

NET CHAMPIONSHIP HANDICAP ALLOWANCE

The handicap allowance shall be 100%.

TEEING BOXES

Men shall play from the BLUE Tee Boxes and Ladies shall play from the YELLOW Tee Boxes

PRACTICE

No practice will be permitted on the course before or after the competition on the Friday of the tournament or before the competition on Saturday of the tournament.  

TIES

  • Players tied for first (1st) place in each of the division competitions will participate in a sudden death playoff that will commence on the 18th Hole and will alternate back and forth with the 9th Hole until a winner is determined.  No strokes shall be given in the sudden death playoff for the Net Championship division.
  • Other ties will be decided under USGA Rule 33-6, Stroke Play (c) using the following method: (1) Day 2 18 hole score, (2) Day 2 Holes 10 thru 18, (3) Day 2 Holes 13 thru 18, (4) Day 2 Holes 16 thru 18 and (5) Day 2 Hole 18. If still tied, count back will then be from lowest index hole.

COMPETITION WINNERS

The Men’s Club Champion will be the man returning the Low Gross score over 36 holes from the Championship Tees.  The Women’s Club Champion will be the woman returning the Low Gross score over 36 holes from the Championship Tees.

PRIZES

The number of winners for each division is subject to change depending on the number of players signed up to play and/or the number of players that complete the tournament.

DECISIONS

The decisions of the Tournament Committee on all matters of competition play shall be final.

DRAW

The draw for the first round will be made by random selection by flight.  The pairings for the second round shall be made by order of finish from the first-round results by flight. 

STARTING

Players shall report to the Starter at least 15 minutes before the start of their round.  Players need to arrive at the tee box 5 minutes before the start of play. Late arrivals to the Starter or tee box may result in the assessment of a penalty which could range from 2-stroke penalty to disqualification. The penalty assessed is at the sole discretion of the Tournament Committee.

SCORING

All Scoring will be via USGA TM utilizing the Digital Scorecard feature which provides for the Marker and Scorer to verify and digitally sign scorecards.  Information on how to use the Digital Scorecard feature can be found here - Digital Scorecards

PACE OF PLAY

Make your decisions on the shots you will make as quickly as you can (40 secs).  This includes on the green. Maximum 3 Minutes searching for a golf ball.  Please keep up with the group in front of you.  Pace of Play guidelines will be printed on your scorecard.  Please do your best to adhere to the recommended timing.  Marshals may ask you to pick up your pace or ask you to allow a faster group behind to play through.  Be respectful and obey the requests of the Marshal. Player(s) causing slow play during the round will be warned initially by the Marshal and then assessed a 1 stroke penalty for each subsequent warning.

REGISTRATION CANCELATION
