2013 - ROW wins Ryder Cup

LEAD Technologies Inc. V1.01On September 13 and 14, 2013, the Ryder Cup was contested between the ROW team captained by Les Flintham and the USA team captained by Mike Haas. Once again the competition was intense, coming down to the last few groups.

After the fourball on the Friday morning, the ROW team took a strong lead with 17.5 to the USA team of 11.5. However, during the afternoon fourballs the USA team came storming back to win with 11.5 to the ROW team 4.5. At the end of day one, USA was leading with 23 to ROW 22.

Given the close score, the outcome was brought down to the singles competitions and all to play for. USA got off to a flying start winning the first couple of games to extend their lead, but then ROW showed their fighting spirit by winning eight matches in a row. Once ROW got their nose in front did not release their grip but kept a couple of points in front till the end, which brought the final score to ROW 51 and USA 49.

All matches were played with great camaraderie and the competition was outstanding. Everyone should be congratulated not only for competing but for playing in very hot, humid conditions.

Special thanks goes out to this year's team Captains Les Flintham (ROW) and Mike Haas (USA) for their hard work and dedication.
